This is a great cake to make. It takes a while to bake (325 for about 45 mins to an hour -- you'll need a Cake Tester to check if it's done because the pan is so deep) but if you spray it enough before it will pop right out if you let it cool for 10-15 minutes. I put both sides in the oven at the same time and it was fine. One time I used one cake mix and although it didn't fill it up all the way the cupcake (after I trimmed the top part of both sides to be able to frost the middle and connect them) was fine, just a tiny bit shorter. The second time I made two cake mixes (as some have said) and then made extra cupcakes. After making this a few times if I'm just making it for our family I'll just do the one cake mix and have it be a little shorter (1"-2") but if I have to feed a large group I'll do two cake mixes so that the cake is a little taller but so I also have cupcakes to feed the masses.I liked the reviewer that "glued" scrapbook paper to it with frosting. The first time I frosted the bottom (not piped) and I didn't like how it turned out. The second and third time I didn't frost the bottom just the top and it looked cuter and was just fine! Next time I'll try the paper and see if that works.Bottom line: I would buy this pan again. More fun than just a square/rectangle cake but not so hard to do that you have to be a professional to make it look nice--I'm a mom and I did it! :)Oh, one more thing that I like is the giant muffin pans...check those out! They make great large individual cupcakes more like what you get at the fancy cupcake stores.
